"I first took this photograph using a 1970s-era Polaroid SX-70 camera and with 600 instant film in November 2023. I then separated the layers of the photo by hand, using water and a gentle touch to reveal the image within the delicate emulsion. I love the tactile quality of the process and the rich texture and character it imparts to the finished images, which are always symbols of my home and the things I hold dear." - Kamala Nahas

Kamala is a self-taught photographer based in Camarillo, California. Best known for her poetic sea and landscapes, she revels in capturing elemental abstracts and expressing herself through conceptual personal projects. Her intention is less about documenting a place and more about conveying how the elements feel.
