"This abstract piece takes a modern colorist spin on traditional landscape art. The colors and forms were inspired by my daily walks along the Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz, where at some times of the year the deep blue Pacific is covered by a pink sky. The viewpoint of my paintings is unconsciously informed by my years spent on a boat and is therefore the perspective from a boat offshore looking back onshore at the coastline." - Caryn Owen

A passionate artist and scientist, Caryn has devoted her life to studying both marine biology and artistic expression. She is based in Santa Cruz, where she creates accessible abstract art inspired by her surroundings on the Pacific Coast, which often focus more on featuring intense colors than literal forms.
