The photograph explores two of the most basic elements in photography: Light and Colour. The aim is to focus solely on both elements without the inclusion of any human activity, which could divert the viewer from such basic principles. Hence the use of different techniques such as multiple exposure, the exposure of film to different light sources and the capture of images completely out of focus play a crucial role in the series. I first got the idea of exploring with negatives while developing rolls of film at the lab. I would always project on the enlarger the useless ends of the film strips, and distract my self looking for interesting patterns within. They reminded me about the abstract paintings from Barnett Newman, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko and the New York School from the postwar era.
