The initial cold touch of gentle lapping ocean waves or the cold flow of river waters over skin, that cooling sensation that gradually becomes immersive when you allow yourself to dip your toes in, even when you were not planning to, that is the feeling I have tried to capture in this work. That cooling, calming, immersive feeling of water.

The watercolour brushstrokes are vibrant, textured and layered. The deep blue colour and pattern of the brushwork resembles shibori (a Japanese indigo dying technique). The result is an artful expression of visual serenity.

I hope this works offers others a sense of calm, hope and optimism.
