About the work

I gravitate towards subjects that breathe vitality into my space. I continually find myself turning towards nature for inspiration. Whimsical leaves and blooms are a favorite motif found in my work. Life can be heavy, and periodically overwhelming; this stylish floral features intriguing washes of watercolor combined with unique mark-making.     Kara Aina was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada and now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. She works primarily in watercolor, oils, and occasionally in ink, acrylic, and collage. Her work is inspired by connections and interactions she has with family, friends and nature. In addition to being an artist she is a mother to 4 sons and is an art educator; currently teaching at the middle and high school level.
