In my abstract work, I hope to convey a myriad of human emotions. Northern Blues, for me, is a deeply introspective piece. This painting was developed over the course of a year. During that time, it wore different layers, different moods. As its final version came into focus, I felt the mysterious depth of a north shore lake, the softness of grey skies, hints of lichen on timeworn stone. I felt myself standing amidst wind and water, sorrow and hope.
