I frequently paint marine subjects and am inspired by what happens at the convergence of water, land and sky. This painting depicts a paddleboarder and his companion navigating their way through the misty Pillar Point Harbor along California's northern Pacific coast as the morning fog burns away. In presenting this subject, I limit my palette and level of detail in order to convey both perspective and the similarities in texture and color that the sky and water exhibit during these conditions.
