About the work

Sweltering heat along Route 66 made this a great pit stop to take some photos of this iconic vintage motel sign. A week long photography road trip made me recognize the character and charm these disappearing places have. There is something special about driving along an abandoned road and imagining what this place used to be like. It would be hard to re-create these motel signs in today's age. They would need years of changing weather, chipping paint and fading colors to make them this special.
