About the work
This painting is so lush with color. Deep emerald and blue rise to the surface to meet a sky with gold. I love the texture in this one too. Lots of underpainting contributed to the strong texture. Then with my Japanese brushes I swept washes of paint to create the surface.

As an artist, painting can be tormenting and sublime at the same time. I'm a big risk taker, experimenting with different materials to layer, stain, scrap and saturate color on large canvases. My most successful work is complex yet minimal. Some of my work achieves a sense of fluid movement with saturated color, while my newer collection is so textured it is like frosting. The end result should be a painting that will spiritually and emotionally capture, calm, and elevate us.
