About the work
I was exploring a beach like palette and felt my paint strokes to be slow and lazy. After many passes I came to love the top and bottom where the paint blended into a soft and hazy look contrasting the more defined center. After sipping my morning coffee and trying to name her the first thought that came to me was the feeling of a lazy beach day - she became lazy afternoon!

As an artist, painting can be tormenting and sublime at the same time. I'm a big risk taker, experimenting with different materials to layer, stain, scrap and saturate color on large canvases. My most successful work is complex yet minimal. Some of my work achieves a sense of fluid movement with saturated color, while my newer collection is so textured it is like frosting. The end result should be a painting that will spiritually and emotionally capture, calm, and elevate us.
