Linked was created as a study of tension and trust, inspired by the knots used in nautical culture, where every tie has purpose and every connection carries weight. I was drawn to the symbolism behind these knots: they are not decorative, they are functional. They are built to hold, protect, and endure.
In this piece, I used the Crown Knot as a foundation, representing unity and interwoven strength. The sculpture is brought together with a Barrel Knot, a traditional nautical knot known for its stability and grip, anchoring the form like a quiet promise.
My process is slow and meditative, built through repetitive wrapping and knotting, allowing the rope to guide the final shape while I refine the structure by hand. The result is a sculptural object that feels both modern and timeless, like a fragment of maritime history reimagined for contemporary interiors.
Linked is a reminder that strength is often not loud, it is built in layers, held in tension, and sustained through connection.
