"Winter Kayak" is part of a personal series exploring our local river Lahn (a tributary of the Rhine, Germany) with photography and painting. This photo was shot after a day and a night of dense fog on New Year's Eve. When the valley appeared again out of the big nothing, it had wrapped itself into a festive cloth of glittering frost … Inspired by this celebration of nature I took many photos but I feel that this one is special as the lonely kayaker makes the landscape look even more peaceful and majestic.
