Kamala first took this photograph using a 1970’s era Polaroid SX-70 instant camera. She then separated the layers of the photo by hand, using water and a gentle touch to reveal the image within the delicate emulsion. Again, using water, she transferred the thin emulsion to stretched canvas and finished it with a UV resistant varnish. She loves the tactile quality of the process and the rich texture and character it imparts to the finished images, which are always symbols of her home and the things she holds dear.
