________

About the Seedlings: This year, I started plants for my garden from seed (a first!). During the process, I noticed how different each seed type was. It inspired me to create these painted paper collages celebrating the differences between seeds and the unique qualities of each.

Kayla King is an abstract painter from the Central Coast of California. She finds inspiration within the natural world, specifically and landscape and in her home garden. Finished works largely influenced by water and earth: the motion, energy, sound, and texture all playing a large role what is translated to the finished piece. Stories are told in overlapping layers and marks, creating an expressive visual language that seeks to suspend a moment or memory in time.
