This abstract acrylic painting takes a modern spin on landscape art. This piece is a part of a series of muted colors of the Pacific coast. Morning fog in Northern California casts a lovely muted white mist over the rocky coast. The slate blue gray color was inspired by the ocean color with misty reflection.

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art.
Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
