About the work

In this mixed-media artwork, I've created a painterly rendition of Idaho inspired by the state's nature-derived symbols. Here, impasto applications of fresh, white paint intermix with hints of yellow, gray, and blue, an homage to the white petals and yellow stamens of syringa, the state flower; the blue feathers of the mountain bluebird, the state bird; and the gray feathers of the peregrine falcon, the state raptor. Completing the piece is a subtly textured, green-tinted ground, a subtle color reference to the western white pine, the state tree.
