Some of my earlier work is inspired by Japanese art and calligraphy, playing with brushstroke and dry brush techniques. After spending 5 years studying Japanese culture, language and East Asian artwork, I often find this theme of making simple strokes comes up effortlessly. I like to see where I can arrange the strokes and color to create a modern abstract landscape.
