About the work
In this mixed-media artwork, I’ve created a painterly rendition of Montana inspired by the state’s nature-derived symbols. Here, impasto applications of paint assemble in swirling layers, a nod to the striated layers of Montana agate, the state gemstone. Completing the piece is a background rendered in shades of green with hints of blue, a subtle reference to the leaves of bluebunch wheatgrass, the state grass.
