For my son's first garden he chose a wildflower seed mix. The garden was soon over-run with cosmos, some that grew as tall as seven feet. I wanted to capture the view from our house of his magical creation so that he could remember it forever. This piece is a painterly, almost abstract acrylic painting that is very different for me. My training was in realism and my goal has always been to match what I saw as closely as possible. With this painting I was hoping to capture the free and fun feeling the garden evoked in real life but by using carefree and wild brush strokes.
