About the work
This painting combines two of my biggest inspirations: flowers and the sky. I used an expressive palette of earthy blues and greens and kept my brushstrokes painterly and bold, which helps to update a traditional and popular motif. I wanted to convey a certain dreaminess and an element of whimsy by creating blue flowers.
