About the work

Inspired by the lush rainforest landscape on a recent trip to Costa Rica, “botanica swirl” embodies the friendly and welcoming ethos of “pura vida” through whimsically cut pieces swirling together to form an abstract, tropical floral arrangement in an oceanside setting. We were greeted kindly by local people throughout our trip with a relaxed spirit and a reverence for slowing down and celebrating the surrounding beauty. And this piece captures that joy and lightness through movement, a bright, nature-inspired color palette, and simple shapes.
