About the work

Brownsugar is part of a series of artworks I have called "Inside" of painted, cut out, collaged paper artworks which I developed during Covid. Feeling literally inside, doing these artworks gave me the impression I was invited inside to an interplay of shapes, forms and color. I love the interplay of light shadows under the cut paper's edges, giving a feeling of being inside the artwork, even if it was then a photograph and ultimately a fine art print. "Inside" is a quiet tribute to returning inside to ourselves, returning inside literally, (as in lock down) and listening to the soft quiet voice that resides inside, wishing to reach our attentive ears.
