About the work
Imagine being the lucky bee who discovers this garden! This painting was made by mixing gesso with pigment, which creates a texture like frosting. The very act of painting is lush and thick, encouraging the edges to merge and overlap like an overripe garden bouquet. This technique intentionally mimics the subject matter, so that the painting feels as luxuriant as the original flowers.
