About the work
Working in a palette of greys, grey blues and white, the paint became a light grey/blue sky floating across my canvas. I kept doing washes of more paint til it felt complete. When it was finished my son said it looked like an iron sky so Iron Sky stuck for the name. One of Matthew's (my son) favorites so it hangs above his bed.

As an artist, painting can be tormenting and sublime at the same time. I'm a big risk taker, experimenting with different materials to layer, stain, scrap and saturate color on large canvases. My most successful work is complex yet minimal. Some of my work achieves a sense of fluid movement with saturated color, while my newer collection is so textured it is like frosting. The end result should be a painting that will spiritually and emotionally capture, calm, and elevate us.
