About the work

This piece is part of my Papers series - each piece starts with a layer of colorful papers that I draw and paint over. This painting started with a found photograph of a tree, some of my daughter's preschool art (all the dense green), and bits of paintings from my sketchbook. I find lines and colors that I like in the collaged papers and bring these out with layers of gouache and pencil.
