I've always been fascinated by the story of Laika, the first dog in space, and I painted this detailed watercolor astronaut pup inspired by her. With her stylish uniform and hopeful expression, this dog is ready to fly. I gave her a sweet disposition and a suit that will protect her stylishly out in space!

I'm Lauren: a NYer, traveler, lover of books, horses, dogs and painting. When I was a little girl, used to tell anyone who asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up that I wanted to be a "veterinarian with pictures all over the walls" but ultimately I'd rather wield a paintbrush than a scalpel! Watercolors are my medium of choice. I think it allows me to best capture the expressions of my subjects, and getting that face, those eyes, or little ears or curl of tail, just right. less
