Rumba ll represents my desire to challenge myself and use tools that I love to use other than just brushes. Also I am often inspired by 60's record covers and the music that comes with it. Particularly Cuban infused jazz. Rumba is also a type of dance that is full of life and emotion. So for this piece I did color blocking and added layers of paint. Using my scraper tool I pulled it onto of the paint to make the shapes. Added a variety of paper cut shapes which completed the painting.This pairs with Rumba l. Collage painting. Started out as printmaking. Then a painting. Then combined both! A composition full of energy and movement, this textural painting is an abstraction of mid century textiles.
