About the work
These abstract acrylic paintings represent a study of color of the tropical trees and birds that live in the Hawaiian Islands. On the island of Kauai, parrots return to the trees every night at sunset. These paintings were inspired by the view up of the colorful birds in the trees.

In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
