There are some trips that stay with you for a lifetime. One summer, as a teenager, I had the opportunity to visit the Philippines and volunteer in an orphanage just outside of Manila. It was an amazing experience during which I met many interesting people, learned about another culture first-hand, and tried new foods and dishes. Shortly before heading back home, I took this photo from the back of a jeepney, and I believe it really sums up the entire trip in one shot. In many ways, it sums up what travel is to me - an opportunity to leave behind the ordinary and the familiar, and to embrace the excitement of new places, other cultures, and a different way of viewing the world.
