About the work

This coastal modern diptych highlights abstract pattern, light and color observed in nature. In this piece, the flowing ocean ripples were seen on the island of Kauai, Hawaii along the Queens Bath coastal trail. In its counterpart, the remarkable contrasting sand patterns were found in Santa Barbara, California. These two photographs from distant coasts have come together to create a perfect pair. Both pieces were purposefully edited to include live uneven edging and placed within cream matting. The resulting minimalist work focuses on neutral earth tones, sand and sea gradients, and reflective light pattern; creating a minimal color palette with a level of neutrality that make this diptych wonderfully versatile in complementing many aesthetics.
