TIPS FOR CHOOSING YOUR SMALL CHRISTMAS CARD
There are over a thousand designs to choose from, and every holiday card we offer is available in a petite option. Choose a photo or non-photo design, the card orientation (landscape vs. portrait), what design style you like, and what color and greeting to use. All of Minted’s designs are sourced from our community of over 10,000 independent artists from across the globe. You will be sure to find petite Christmas cards that are unique as you are.
- Choose either a photo or non-photo option. A photo card is a great option if your family takes special holiday family photos each year, or even if you have one on your phone that you love! A non-photo design is a perfect fit if you do not have a great photo to use, but still want to send your family and friends holiday cheer. A non-photo card can also be good for a more design-based look, and you can opt to add a custom family photo to the back of the card if desired.
- You can filter by how many photos you want to use on your petite Christmas card. Select anywhere from no-photos to 4+ and you’ll be able to see all of the options filtered down to what you are looking for. If you know you want to showcase three pictures, save time by only viewing designs with three pictures.
- Take a look at the different filter options under the “STYLE” section to narrow down your search for the perfect card even further. Are you feeling a classic and elegant look? Are you looking to show your greeting in a fun, bold, and typographic font? Either way, utilizing the filters will allow you to sort through the large selection of options more efficiently.
- Choose between a portrait or landscape orientation for your miniature-sized Christmas card. If you have a specific photo you know you are using, the orientation is crucial to ensuring your photo will fit the small Christmas card design. If you are doing a non-photo card or are picking the design before your photo, then you can leave off this filter and browse through the assortment of both.
- Next, choose which greeting you would like on your card. Whether it is “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Holidays,” or “Happy New Year”, nearly every Minted card can be altered to say the greeting you desire. If you are feeling super creative or inspired, you can even write your own holiday greeting!
- You can decide if your card will have any custom printing techniques such as a foil-press> or letterpress. A flat press card is your standard printing technique with no raised, indented, or metallic additions. A foil-pressed card is accented with shiny metallic colors such as gold, silver, or rose gold foil. A letterpress card will add a three-dimensional look to your card by elegantly imprinting a design into thick high-quality cotton paper. No matter which printing technique you decide, your card will stand out with its chic, smaller size and unique design.
- If you have a certain color scheme in mind, you can also filter by color or foil color options. You can also click the different color circles below each individual card design to instantly see the card in a different color.
- There are three different card formats to choose from; flat, folded with a message inside, or folded without a message inside. The flat format is your more traditional holiday card with a front and a back. You can then elect to customize the flat card further by selecting a trendy shape with rounded corners! Both folded options are great for adding additional text for your loved ones to read. If you choose folded without a message inside, you and your family members have the space to write a personal message in each card before sending out. The folded over option with a message allows you to compose a common message you wish to send to all of your holiday card recipients, and Minted will print it in the card for you!
- You can also choose which paper option you would like, from our Signature Paper to our Triple Thick Paper. If you are feeling extra eco-friendly since you already opted-in for a smaller card, go with our Premium 100% Recycled Paper.
FURTHER PERSONALIZATION OPTIONS AVAILABLE:
Once you have chosen which design you would like to use, start customizing the front of the card to make it your own. Just take a look at some of the options available at your fingertips.
- When you upload your photo, you will be able to edit the image to display in color, black and white, or sepia. Next, make any necessary edits to the font type, font size, and font colors. You can also add your family names to the card. Feel free to remove any additional text that may have been in the original design that you do not wish to have on the card!
- Every card has multiple color options, but if your heart is set on a different color combination, simply leave a comment in the special requests box, and a Minted design associate will work with you to make your small Christmas card look just as you desire.
- If you fell in love with a design that does not have foil-pressed elements and you would like to add some shine to your card, add custom foil text! This option is available for a selection of our cards, and it allows you to add foil to any text on your card.
Don’t forget the back of your Christmas card. Minted provides even more customization options to make the back of your card just as memorable as the front.
- Since you are opting for a smaller card, the back of your card is the perfect place to add additional text or photos (up to 9!). In our online customization tool, you will see an assortment of different options. Utilize the space on the back to write a holiday letter to your loved ones, update them on your family’s year-in-review, or add any more photos you would like to showcase. You are able to make the text copy look exactly how you want, customizing it to perfectly match the font and style of the front of your card.
- If you do not wish to add additional text or photos, you have the option to keep the back of your card white, or add a solid color or patterned backer.
Now that your card is complete, don’t forget to customize your envelopes! After all, this will be the first interaction your card recipients have with your Christmas card as they pull it out of their mailbox. - Minted also offers return address printing, either on the back flap of the envelope or in an adhesive wrap that is put on the top left of the envelope called “skinnywrap”.
