Mya Bessette
Artist from Bigfork, Montana
Mya's aesthetic is ever-changing. Ethereal-light-reflective and playful one moment, industrial-modern-gritty-urban the next. She finds it so difficult to limit herself to any one style because she likes to be surrounded by contrasting elements in her own environment. A painting should evoke emotion in its owner every time he or she looks at it. When she creates paintings, she envisions them in someone’s home and hopes that each piece brings as much joy to its new owner as it did to her during its creation.
Mya grew up on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Homer, Alaska and now she paints from her home studio in Bigfork, MT where she resides with her husband, Cody, two kiddos Nevi and Lex and their golden lab Zuma. Her work is often inspired by the brilliant natural contrast that nature offers. She is self-taught and always observing and learning new techniques, new mediums and fresh approaches to mixed media painting.
